Sigma Phi Epsilon-Iowa Delta’s alumni brother of the month is Steve Hofstetter (Columbia University ’02). Steve is an American comedian and television personality. His YouTube channel currently has 119,008,298 views (as of March 8, 2019). He was the host of the movie Finding Babe Ruth on FS1, a regular panelist on MLB Now on MLB Network and was the host and executive producer of “Laughs” on Fox television stations.
In 1997, Steve graduated from Hunter College High School and in 2002, received his B.A. from Columbia University’s School of General Studies. At Columbia, he wrote for the Columbia Spectator and was President of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Brother Hofstetter has gone on to become a very successful comedian, touring the country both on stand-up tours as well as featuring on sports shows and other comedy shows alike.
Hofstetter earned a reputation for lashing out at hecklers, and some of his anti-heckler YouTube clips reached over five million views. His channel reached over 100 million in total. Hofstetter credits the popularity to justice. He told the Orlando Sentinel, “People like seeing other people get what they deserve” and “You can’t fake a heckler clip. People are excited to see someone who’s ruining everyone else’s time get their comeuppance.”
Steve visited Drake University’s SigEp chapter on September 21st to discuss his role within the Sigma Phi Epsilon organization, give both college and life advice to our undergraduate members, as well as perform a personal show for our brothers. He is one of SigEp’s donors and continues to help pave the way for SigEp’s up and coming leaders. Our fraternity would not be what it is today if it weren’t for Brother Hofstetter’s contributions.
This semester, SigEp-Iowa Delta hopes to host Steve Hofstetter at Drake. Steve wants to come and perform for the Drake University student body with the help from us and we could not be more honored to present our brother to the university.
