Sigma Phi Epsilon is one of the largest fraternities in the United States, with over 200 chapters and more than 15,000 undergraduate members. While our fraternity is well-known for its strong brotherhood and leadership development programs, it is also deeply committed to serving its communities through philanthropic and service initiatives.
Here are some of the ways that SigEp is making a difference through service work:
Balanced Man Scholarship
One of the signature programs of SigEp is the Balanced Man Scholarship, which is awarded to incoming college freshmen who embody the values of the fraternity: virtue, diligence, and brotherly love. The scholarship is meant to support academic achievement, leadership development, and personal growth, and it has helped hundreds of students over the years. Be sure to keep an eye out on our social media sites about the 2023 Balanced Man Scholarship!
Big Brothers, Big Sisters
Many SigEp chapters, including Iowa Delta, partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters to mentor young people in their communities. Through this partnership, SigEp members provide one-on-one support and guidance to children and teenagers who may be facing difficult circumstances, helping them build confidence, self-esteem, and positive relationships.
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
SigEp is a proud partner of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the nonprofit that supports research and advocacy efforts to fight blood cancers. Recently, Iowa Delta hosted our annual philanthropy event Queen of Hearts, raising roughly $500 for the organization. While we value each of our charity partnerships, LLS holds a special place in our heart. Several years ago, and after a battle with Leukemia/Lymphoma, one of Iowa Delta’s strongest members lost their life to the disease. The loss of our brother only furthered our commitment to the cause, and we are proud to continue supporting LLS in their mission to find a cure. Through our ongoing efforts, we hope to honor his memory and make a positive impact in the fight against blood cancers. Queen of Hearts is just one example of how we come together as a fraternity to support our philanthropic partners, and we look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come.
Through all of these service initiatives, SigEp is demonstrating its commitment to making a positive impact in the world. By putting its values into action and working to serve others, the fraternity is helping to build stronger, more resilient communities and empowering its members to become leaders who make a difference.
