Last weekend, the Iowa Delta chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon (SigEp) held their 20th Rechartering Reunion and 2023 Drake Relays Tent Party. The event was a celebration of the chapter’s history and legacy, a chance for alumni to come together after years apart, and for current members to hear of what life was like years ago, in the house they live in today.
The event was a celebration of brotherhood and community, with attendees coming from across the country to reunite with old friends and brothers, and to make new connections. The reunion served as a reminder of the bonds of brotherhood that extend beyond the college experience, and of the importance of maintaining these connections long after graduation. The event also showcased the strong sense of community that is fostered within the fraternity, and the commitment of members to supporting one another throughout their lives.
The weekend began with an early 2000’s era dinner at Bubba, in Downtown Des Moines. The following morning, alumni were welcomed back to the house for the 2023 Drake Relays Tent Party. Drinks, pizza, and conversation took place until early evening. The reunion and tent party culminated in a dinner and awards ceremony on Saturday evening at Noce Italian Restaurant in Des Moines. This was a great way for alumni to reconnect, share stories, and enjoy an evening together after being apart for so long. Several alumni were inducted into the Iowa Delta Hall of Fame and recognized for their continued support and dedication to the Iowa Delta chapter. Those brothers include:
- Rob Sobkoviak, ‘90
- Zach Nunn, ‘02
- Luke Anderson, ‘03
- Bryan Gay, ‘03
- Eric Bertch, ‘04
- James Collingwood, ‘05
- Brady Wolfe, ‘09
Two alumni were also inducted into the Iowa Delta Order of the Golden Heart, in recognition of a lifetime commitment to SigEp. Congratulations to Bill Longfield (’60) and Andy Wright (’69)!
